It is possible to turn your life around from the inside out

1. What are the benefits?

Hydration (an important aid to revitalize the body), cleansing and purification of the colon. The rest of the body follows suit. With your after session homework, your body will continue to move in a positive direction. And, you will have a better understanding of your body and it's needs. You will be able to help yourself feel better.

2. Are there any side effects?

You will probably feel a lot better and more relaxed. Clients usually respond that they "feel lighter". Although on a rare occasion a client might feel fatigue, nausea, or a bit of a headache (probably toxins being released), allow a little time for these sensations to pass, 5 or 10 minutes could make a big difference. I have found that given a little more time and a rest period after, you'll feel a lot better.

3. Is colon hydrotherapy safe?

Yes, it has been known to be safe. However, to ensure safety, have your therapist present with you during the entire session.

We purify the outside of our body all the time

to do this on the inside too, is awesome.

4. What happens during a session?

  • Your modesty is considered at all times. During your session you will be completely covered.
  • Your comfort is a huge consideration. Once the disposable speculum is safely inserted, small amounts of water will be gently introduced into your body. If you have sensations of needing to have a bowel movement and/or feeling full or bloating, cramping or gas pressure, the water will be turned off immediately. As you breathe, your body will release (debris and/or gas, etc.) and you will feel better. Then, more water is added and turned off for another release, and so on. Going deeper and deeper each time, eventually hydrating the entire five feet or so of your large intestine. With a good session, your body will respond so that you might feel better, lighter and have more energy.

5. What do I need to do after my session?

  • A little rest period after will allow your body to integrate the effects of the session. Sometimes, it could be just a 1/2 hour or for some people a little more time is needed. If after your rest period you feel even better, you can go about your normal day.
  • Take an electrolyte to replace essential nutrients which your body needs to maintain optimum levels of energy, stamina and hydration.
  • Take a good probiotic to promote the growth of friendly bacteria.
  • Drink a little more water than you are used to for at least one hour. The upper body could really use extra water to catch up with the lower body. If you are not used to drinking water or a good amount, just start off with small amounts and be sure your bladder is releasing, if it is not, contact your doctor!
  • Eat lighter. Eating a large meal after could contribute to more constipation. Never eat a meal when you are upset, angry or in a hurry.
  • Also, consider proper food combining as a change. Incorrect food combining can contribute to stagnation and an accumulation of excess gas and constipation.
  •

6. What would I need to do prior to a session?

  • If you are not used to drinking water or a good amount, just start off drinking smaller extra amounts and be sure your bladder is releasing. If it is not, contact your doctor!
  • Ideally, we should have a bowel movement after every meal. A light meal, an hour or 1/2 hour before a session can help move things along. You could also drink some vegetable juice instead.
  • Fasting is not necessary. Although some people do well with fasting, some do not (check with your doctor before you begin a fast!)
  • Even though you might be very apprehensive and/or nervous about using colon hydrotherapy to improve your health, come anyway. You may be surprised.

CLEANSE, RENEW ,REVITALIZE

7. Should I talk to my doctor first?

Yes, it would be good to consult with your doctor (although it is not required in most states). There are many doctors, physicians, etc. who highly recommend colon hydrotherapy.

In a Medical Journal Report, Board Certified Gastrointestinal Surgeon Dr. Leonard Smith (who at the time had practiced for 25 years as a specialist in gastrointestinal surgery), said "It turns out that colon hydrotherapy is the gentlest and most effective treatment for a constipation problem."

8. Can anyone receive a colon hydrotherapy session?

Yes, most people would benefit from colon hydrotherapy.  There are some indications were someone would not be able to have a session.  If you have questions regarding this, contact a colon hydrotherapist.

9. How long has colon hydrotherapy been around?

Colon lavage (washing out of an organ) was first recorded in 1500 B.C. in the ancient Egyptian document Ebers Papyrus. It is said that in the tomb of famous Queen of Egypt, Cleopatra, there was found an enema type apparatus.

Medial doctor, John Harvey Kellogg, M.D. and his brother invented Corn Flakes cereal. In the early 1900's J.H. popularized colon hydrotherapy. His article was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association praising the procedure for saving a dysfunctional large bowel.

THE SILENT GIANT

10. Colon hydrotherapy, colonics, what is the difference?

The name colonic is often used as a generic name for adding water into the colon. When in fact there are many ways to add water into the body and they each have proper names.

"Colon Hydrotherapy"  Closed System equipment, in part, consists of a speculum with two different openings, a smaller one for incoming filtered water and a larger one for outgoing colon contents. The speculum connects to tubing that goes to the colon hydrotherapy instrument that regulates the temperature and pressure flow of the water. The gentle flow of water into the colon and the releases clear the way to go deeper and deeper, hydrating the entire 5 feet or so of your colon.

11. What if I just purchase a colon cleanse instead?

I'll ask you..........Can colon cleansers help with colon hydrotherapy?

Colon cleansers can do a great job loosening toxins and debris from many parts of your body. If you start a colon cleanser and your large intestine is so stuck, it could become even more compacted. You could reabsorb toxins and become very ill!

Remember, the goal is to help the body (as gently as possible) return to its natural digestive function. Colon cleansers and colon hydrotherapy used together can be an awesome combination!  Every person is different, I suggest asking your certified colon hydrotherapist what they recommend for you.

Constipation could cause dehydration and dehydration could cause constipation

12 Should I be concerned about personal bacterial or viral contamination from the equipment used?

No. The personal equipment is either disposable or sterilized. The water is filtered and not recycled. The waste, etc. disposes through a separate tube into the sewer system. There is no danger of contamination. In addition there is a Backflow system which prevents any backflow of debris, etc..

13. Is there any discomfort?

No, not usually. You may feel a slight bit of cramping, take in the moment and relax and breathe. Your body is allowed an opportunity to move beyond any sensation.  Your therapist will walk you through. Depending on what feelings come up and with the aid of the water, you can relax and feel good.

14. Does colon hydrotherapy remove my flora?

Most people's flora contains a lot of unfriendly bacteria. By cleansing and promoting the growth of the friendly bacteria you are strengthening your immune system.

15. Will I get dehydrated with a colon hydrotherapy session?

I'll let you think about this question and ask you some. If you drink water, does it dehydrate you? If you take a bath, does the water dehydrate you? Consider this from the inside out. After a session, take electrolytes, which your body needs to maintain optimum levels of energy, stamina and hydration, and for at least an hour drink a little extra water to help support the upper body and to allow it to catch up with the lower. If you are not used to drinking water or a good amount, just start off with smaller extra amounts and be sure your bladder is releasing. If it is not, contact your doctor!

16. Will colon hydrotherapy deplete my body of nutrients?

You will need to take an electrolyte to replace essential nutrients.  Your body needs these daily to maintain optimum levels of energy, stamina and hydration. The procedure removes friendly as well as unfriendly bacteria. Therefore, you need a good probiotic to promote the growth of friendly. With each session your body will have less and less unfriendly bacteria and will be replaced with more of the friendly. Your vitamins and minerals (which are expensive and wonderful), will absorb into your body better, optimizing their benefit of supporting good health. The removal of old fecal matter that has been stagnate in your body for probably quite some time will make way for that to happen.

Take care of your colon and it will take care of you!

17. Are trapped gases dangerous to my health?

Yes, they could be. Dr. Norman Walker in his book Colon Health states "When a pocket of gas forms anywhere in the heart area it is very likely to cause trouble." "Gases from the colon can readily pass into any part of the body by the process of gas-osmosis."

18. What if I pass gas during my session, will we smell any odor?

With a closed system there will be no odor. This system is designed so the release of debris, gas and odor goes through tubing directly into the sewer system. We won't smell a thing.

19. How many sessions does one need?

That depends on your goal. To start, three within a 10 day period is good. With the first session you will feel better, the second and the third session even better and the effects are more lasting!

And if you have had a history of constipation you might consider having more. It is good to have at least 7 to 12 more sessions then reevaluate. Once your body is working better some people opt to a maintenance schedule for what they feel helps their body's progression to be maintained.

20. Will I become dependent on colon hydrotherapy?

When you change your eating habits and make some lifestyle modifications, you will use your sessions as a helpful aid to hydrate, cleanse, purify and exercise your colon. You will learn more about your body and how it works.

21. How much time does a session take?

About 45 minutes, with an allowance for extra time (if needed) to finish releasing. Some people need a little more time and some less.

22. When is it best to have a session?

Anytime is usually good, and especially before a *colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and after having taken barium. Before or after a Chiropractic adjustment, a massage, and other therapies are good times too. Prior to, during and after a colon cleanse. When women are on their menstrual cycle, their body is already open and releasing. Sometimes the sooner the better and definitely before it's too late.

*Gastroenterologist, Robert Charm, M.D. said "And by all means, I prefer my patients undergo colon hydrotherapy the morning of a colonoscopy. It's a safe way to cleanse the gut."

23. Do I need to fast before?

No. Yet, if your body does well with fasting, and/or you are having a hard time eating; taking in more liquids (water and juices, mostly vegetable and less solids) your body can then focus more on the healing effects of the session.

Seek the advice of your doctor before you begin a fast! Some people cannot fast!

24. Can I go to work or work out after a session?

It is better to allow your body to rest, giving it the time it needs to fully assimilate any changes it wants to make. This could be just a 1/2 hour. If you find that after honoring a rest time, you feel even better, than going to work, etc. should be fine.

25. Closed system, open system what is the difference?

The closed system has one main difference that the open system does not have. The closed system is designed with tubing, one for the inflow of clean filtered water and another for the wast and/or gas, for a direct deposit into the sewer system. And it is always operated by the therapist who is also always present.

26. What kind of fiber would be good to take/eat?

  • Vegetables are the best.
  • If you can tolerate fruit, good.
  • Beans and legumes can be awesome to keep you regular! Yet, if your colon is too stuck they could cause more problems with accumulation of trapped gas, which could create more pressure and stress to your body.
  • Some people do very well with psyllium, yet some people do not. It could make them more constipated and very stuck.
  • Ask your certified colon htydrotherapist what they recommend.

27. Are enemas a good thing to do?

Absolutely, an enema or two (besides hydrating the immediate cavity) it just may be what you need to get a little kick start.

The instructions are on the box and be sure the tube is lubricated and that the insertion is done when the person is relaxed (not tense) and it is done on their out breathe.

28. What does the appendix do?

In Dr. Norman Walkers' book Colon Health he states "The appendix is an organ or better expressed as a gland..." "The appendix generates and secretes a powerful germicidal fluid which is automatically injected into the cecum only when the waste matter coming from the small intestine through the ileo-cecal valve is potentially harmful to the welfare of the individual."
